CHECK THE SOLUTION.
[(i) 10 s, 2 µC, 10 ln2 = 6.93 sec.,
(ii) q = (2 e –5 ) µC = 1.348 x 10 -8 C]
Sol. (i) Time constant = t = RC = 10 7 × 1 × 10 –6
= 10 sec.
Q 0 = CV = 1 × 10 –6 × 2 = 2 µC
Q =
= Q 0 (1 – e –t/Rc )
= ln2
⇒ t = 10 ln2 = 6.93 sec.
(ii) q = q 0 e –t/RC
= 2 × 10 –6 e –50/10 = 2 × 10 –6 e –5 = 1.348 × 10 –8 C.
